My goals for this week included completing at least 6 chapters of Draft 2, taking care of my foot (hurt it last week), and feeding my busy family without fast food. I was mostly successful.

I have already completed 6 chapters and intend to work more with the other TEP3 folk this afternoon. It actually looks like I could be done with Draft 2 very soon. Considering my goal was mid-April, I’m shocked. And pleased. However, it means it will be time for another (scary) step towards completion. I am so grateful to have the support of Sage and the others in TEP3 as I face these new milestones.

As for taking care of my foot, I have tried icing and elevating it, but it has continued to hurt. I made an appointment with the same orthopedist I saw last year when I broke my other foot. That appointment was this morning. Turns out I have a strain of the Achilles tendon. He gave me shoe inserts and a prescription for PT. I see him again in 4 weeks. I’m doing what I can to take care of my foot, but it’s going to take time. Why is it that I tried to do something good for me (walk) and ended up with an injury that will take weeks to recover from? Very frustrating.

When it comes to feeding my family without fast food it is tricky. My kids have so many things going on in the evenings that I’m often not at home long enough to put anything together, much less time for them to eat it. I’ve been trying to plan meals that are easy to eat in the car and that I can prep in advance. This week I was mostly successful. However, Tuesday surprised me with an extra activity that I hadn’t planned for, and I ended up feeding them from a drive through. However, I did not get anything for myself. Instead, I waited until after my meeting to eat leftovers at home. Which meant I didn’t eat until after 8:30.

The three weeks ahead are going to be very different due to Spring Break, then two weeks of traveling. I will need to adjust my schedule, but I’m hoping that I can set attainable goals and follow through with careful planning. I’m looking at my planner and attempting to schedule my writing time into the days around our various commitments. Wish me luck! At least it looks like I’m ahead of schedule for Draft 2. But I don’t want that to give me an excuse to slack off. But I will need to give myself grace.
